DedCool is the only functional fragrance brand that empowers all people to smell and feel good through scent. To support their mission in reshaping how fragrance is defined and experienced, ilovecreatives Studio refreshed their brand identity and created a high-converting e-comm site. The goal was to capture all their ~layers~ while speaking to hardcore DedCool lovers and newbies alike in a way that feels like you’re hugging your friend who always smells SO good.

Visualizing the
Scent of DedCool

As a part of the brand refresh, ilovecreatives Studio created colorful auras corresponding to each of DedCool’s signature scents to add visuals to their olfactory world. Communicating fragrance through a website can be tricky! Unfortunately, we haven’t yet figured out how to embed scents into websites [sigh]. In lieu of that, we created auras to help visualize each of their scents and utilize them to illustrate the concept of layering. Layering? Oh, it’s a cool thing where DedCool fragrances can be mixed together to create new symphonies of scents.

Studio designed the site to be clean, intuitive, and discovery forward for new users looking to find their signature scent, and for experienced users to dive deeper into the DedCool world and experiment with layering and building bundles.

Product Experience

To illustrate the range of fragrances, we designed a comprehensive product page that used the visual auras as scent indicators. With so much to discover in each fragrance, we carefully curated a shopping experience that’s playful, information-rich, and easy to navigate across scents. To encourage exploration, we created an interactive quiz experience to guide users towards their signature scent and land them into a world of products within that scent world.

Samples

To help customers on the journey to finding their signature scent, we designed a comprehensive, yet fun experience for them to build a custom sample tin to discover the scents of DedCool. And, hey, sometimes we face paralysis of choice. That’s okay! To solve this, we added suggested sets and layering pairs to guide customers towards their perfect tin.
